Five members of the public were given Public Spiritedness Awards by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for helping to bring truck driver, cabbie and passenger to safety.

At the award ceremony, Mr Zhang Yong Hui, 39, of CST Container Services Pte Ltd, said he had been on his way to deliver goods and stopped as he felt it was a priority “to rescue the casualties in the earliest possible time”.
